They are much longer than it would be to do an install from a DVD or a SD card. It is unreliable and the downloads are lengthy. In general the App store is making me nervous.

Tonight this happened at the App store when I was trying to download an Update for xCode. I was downloading a system update for my 17" MBpro and the program discontinued installation and I could not go to a back up DVD to continue the installation. Eventually the programs will time out and I will be left with a program in Limbo. I will be downloading programs and my connection speed will drop to 1k or below. I have recently updated to El Capitan and compatibility problems may exist with older software. However, I tried to use a WiFi scanner app and was told that the program was not registered to this computer. I have reinstalled the program and everything seems Jake. I tried to open the Update to Civilization Beyond Earth, Rising Tide Expansion Pack and I got the same message.
